The Original Eze-Sleeve® Repair Sleeves made of high-quality cast iron (Class 40) have been a firm standard in electric motor repair since their introduction in 1986. Available through Seipp GmbH, they offer workshops the ideal, cost-effective solution for the fast and precise restoration of damaged end shields (endbells). They guarantee maximum efficiency and are the perfect alternative to the time-consuming and resource-intensive remanufacturing of complete bearing seats.

Your Benefits with the Original Eze-Sleeve® Repair Sleeves
- Proven Material Quality: Manufactured from Class 40 cast iron (25-30 Rockwell hardness), the sleeves feature optimal mechanical properties and excellent machinability, perfectly matched to most cast iron end shields.
- Highest Fitting Accuracy: The inner diameter (I.D.) is deliberately supplied with an allowance of approx. 1 mm. The final machining takes place only after pressing it into the housing. This 100% eliminates concentricity errors caused by microscopic deformations during the pressing process.
- Drastic Time and Cost Savings: Due to the simple handling and standardized dimensions, the complex remanufacturing of components is eliminated. You massively reduce the workload and minimize machine downtime.
- Flexible Mounting Options: Depending on workshop equipment, the sleeves can be safely mounted by thermal shrink-fitting (e.g., with liquid CO2), via tailstock, or hydraulic press.

Installation Guide: Professional Assembly of the Original Eze-Sleeve®
For a precise repair, we recommend clamping the end shield in a 4-jaw chuck to ensure exact centering using a dial indicator (radial and axial run-out tolerance of max. 0.02 mm to 0.05 mm).
- Dimension Determination: Measure the outside diameter (O.D.) of the Eze-Sleeve® at 2-3 different points and calculate the average value.
- Boring the Housing: Bore out the defective bearing seat in the housing to an undersize to achieve a press fit. As a rule of thumb: 0.0005" per 1" of sleeve diameter (for standard sleeves under 100 mm, this corresponds to a press fit of approx. 0.05 mm or 0.002"). Important: Measure precisely!
- Mounting the Sleeve (Thermal Shrink-Fitting Recommended): To avoid shifting the carefully centered housing in the lathe, a thermal shrink fit is the safest method. Cool the sleeve significantly with liquid CO2 (Caution: wear cold protection gloves!). The sleeve shrinks by a few thousandths and can be inserted into the housing without resistance. As it warms to room temperature, it anchors itself microscopically firmly in the cast iron (offers 3 times the holding power of a purely mechanical press fit). Alternative methods: Pressing in via tailstock or hydraulic press.
- Test Step & Dimension Check: A small edge typically protrudes from the mounted sleeve. Initially, bore out only this protruding edge as a test and adjust the tool feed until the required final bearing dimension is exactly reached.
- Finishing (Boring): Now bore the entire remaining inner diameter of the sleeve to the final ball bearing dimension using a fine feed. If necessary, light polishing/sanding may be required for optimal surface quality.
- Completion: Cut off the protruding edge of the sleeve and turn a slight chamfer to facilitate the subsequent assembly of the ball bearing. The end shield is now ready for installation.
