Industrial Carbon Brushes: All Materials and Dimensions According to DIN 43000
Our industrial carbon brushes are classified according to standards DIN 43000 and IEC 136, offering a reliable solution for power transmission to commutators and slip rings. The dimensions of the carbon brushes are specified in the order t x a x r: tangential (width), axial (length), and radial (height).
Your Advantages – Precision and Material Variety
- Standardized Quality: Dimensions and cable diameters are standardized according to DIN 43000 and DIN 43002.
- Comprehensive Material Selection: Available as Graphite Carbon-GK, Bakelite Carbon-BK, Electrographite Carbon-EK, and Bronze Carbon-BKo.
- Specialized for Every Application: From hard carbons for small motors to electrographite carbons with excellent commutation properties.
- Flexibility in Connections: Cables can be provided with insulation (e.g., silicone tubing) as well as suitable cable lugs or plugs.
Other components for motors: View our carbon brushes.
Material Overview and Application Specifications
When ordering, please specify the desired material type, dimensions (t x a x r), visible cable length, cable diameter, cable type, and cable lug/plug. The minimum order quantity is 6 pieces/type.
| Material | Properties & Application Area |
|---|---|
| Hard Carbons | Strong bond (amorphous carbon materials), greater hardness. Used on commutators with non-recessed mica insulation (almost exclusively in small motors). |
| Graphite Carbons (GK) | Suitable for high peripheral speeds, low abrasive effect. Mica insulation should be recessed. |
| Bakelite Carbons (BK) | Resin-bonded with high contact voltage drop, high transverse resistance. For particularly difficult commutation at not too high current densities. |
| Electrographite Carbons (EK) | Electrographite material (converted at 2,500°C). Significant improvement in electrical/thermal conductivity and resistance to wear. Excellent commutation properties (mica insulation should be recessed). |
| Bronze Carbons (BKo) | Contain copper/other metals. Higher conductivity, lower contact resistance. Used on slip rings and in low-voltage machines. |
| Silver Carbons | Suitable for transmitting lowest voltages with measuring currents, tachogenerators, and contacts. |
