Application:
The sensors are used to measure temperature, primarily in the windings of electric motors, generators, and transformers. They are available in 2-, 3-, and optionally 4-wire configurations. In conjunction with a suitable evaluation device, they protect against thermal overload or are used to transmit and document the actual temperature value. Their particularly compact dimensions guarantee a fast thermal response.
Functional description:
The function of Pt temperature sensors is based on the temperature-dependent change in the electrical resistance of platinum metal. The constants are defined in the international standards for Pt temperature sensors. The characteristic curve is nearly linear and standardized according to EN 60751, which offers the advantage of standardized signal evaluation. In addition to the well-known strengths of Pt temperature sensors regarding long-term stability, interchangeability, and accuracy, they are characterized above all by their extremely small space requirements.
